"Look! Up in the sky!" There have now been several Superman series, lately dwelling more on the UNsuper powers of Clark Kent, but in my opinion no series has improved upon this first one which ran for six seasons in the 1950's. So many childhood memories came from that show! My favorite episode, of course, was the two-parter of "Superman and the Mole Men" (aka "The Unknown People"). The thought that little people live deep in the Earth is a wonderful one for children, and when these little people, initially very creepy, turn out to be the victims instead of attackers, we rooted for them! And Superman was a really good person then. Since then he's been corrupted so many ways that he's lost his identity. But in the '50's he really did stand "for truth, justice, and the American way." And most every kid felt a bit more secure in reality because of this fictional character. Every episode is just plain fun, and Lex Luthor never shows up.
