Stephen Jared has written four books so far, and having read all four, I've found that you never know what to expect from his pages. The Brutal Illusion took me by surprise. A bad thing about it is that I can't say anything here without giving away some of the story. Leave it to say that this book is darker than Jared's other literary works, but as with all his books it was hard to put down. As an actor as well as an author, Jared has remarkable insight in coming up with these plots and ideas, making them real, and no way can you get through each book without wanting also to see the movie.
