OZZIE AND HARRIET

My parents used to enjoy this show, and, of course, I watched it with them, but always thought of it as dry and boring, with terrible acting. It was interesting, though, that Ozzie and Harriet were really married in real life and that David and Ricky were really their sons. I just figured that you can't expect all family members to be great actors. I didn't know at the time of Ozzie's past fame as a musician and band leader; but it was fun to watch Ricky grow up to become a hit singer and early rocker! As staid as the Nelson family seemed to me, I was amazed that they let Ricky perform his contemporary hits at the end of their later shows. But along with my own family, I grew up with the Nelson family, and so to watch them now is to step back into my own childhood all over again, and it feels really good. And after the overacting and shouting and controversy of today's TV series, it's a relief to kick back and enjoy the innocent problems of a staid family with their happy endings.
