Stationed at Fort Bragg, in Headquarters Platoon, right next to the Post Commander's building, my Army buddy, Mark Bergquist, and I decided to shoot the sergeant in charge of the Orderly Room with machine guns. Okay, toy machine guns, but they were really neat. Just by pulling the trigger they would make a loud machine gun racket—very impressive!
Mark and I synchronized our watches to the second and we decided on the exact moment. Then he went to the back door and I went to the front, and at the same time we both burst into the Orderly Room shooting at the sergeant alone at the desk.
We obviously traumatized him, but he took being murdered in good humor. Sometimes the Army wasn't all that bad.
