When I wanted a dog for my hermitage guard,
A Flower came into my life;
And though I had thought that all romance was gone,
That Flower became my wife.
Our motorcycle could tell the story
Of how we lean always together,
And how she hugs tight against my back
And warms me in inclement weather.
She gave birth to Leif, Sam, Andy and Glory
and Julia and Disa, too,
And we've several more waiting in Heaven
Who all came from our vows of "I do."
I'm sure o'er the years there's been many a time
That she'd like to have thrown in the towel,
But she's always been faithful and giving to us,
Saying "I love you" instead of crying "Foul!"
This Flower should not be celebrated today,
But every day she is alive;
I've treasured her every day in my heart
Since nineteen seventy-five.
