I just remembered a neat episode with my Mom at the State Fair in Monroe, Washington. We were walking through the art exhibit, criticizing some of the modern art, saying that a child could do that. Then, when we happened upon a large, white canvas in a beautiful frame, we REALLY criticized. It was all just white!
But as I stared at it, I finally saw the image of a nude woman, sitting on the ground or floor, facing away from the viewer. It was a very subtle white image on a white background. "Wait a minute," I said to Mom, and I pointed out the image.
When she saw it, Mom got so excited about it that when a couple walked by shaking their heads at it, Mom said, "No, wait, look," and she pointed out the image to them. She ended up sticking around for a while, not wanting others to miss it. I thought it was so funny, the modest, staid wife of a Methodist minister trying to make people see a nude woman. Mom was great.
