In the late 1800s, "traveling salesmen brought Faultless Starch into the West and Southwest. One Texas salesman added a premium to his starch boxes, bundling them with reading primers. This became a widespread practice, and the series of 36 Faultless Starch primers were used as school texts throughout the West. The company distributed the primers until the 1930s, and many Americans learned to read using the free Faultless Starch booklets."
I have the complete collection of all 36 Faultless Starch booklets. They weren't free, but I am learning how to read using them. Originally each one was affixed to a box of Faultless Starch. The booklets are tiny, only three-by-five-inches, and only 15 pages, but very entertaining. I challenge you to be a Faultless Starch Booklet Collector.
