In Jesus' name go we to the table
E YESU NAMN GOR V TIL BOORS

Spise og drikka på ditt ord
Eat and drink upon Your Word
SPEESA DRICKA PAU DIT OORD

Deg Gud til äre, oss til gavn
God be honored—us forgiven
DEG GUD TIL ÆRA US TIL GAVN

Så får vi mat i Jesu navn.  Amen.
So obtain we food in Jesus' name.  Amen.
SO FAU V MOD E YESUS NAMN.  AMEN.

 

 

 

       My parents often prayed this prayer before meals, and I, not knowing any Norwegian, did my best.  But I would say:  Eissoo nahmen goreeta vorse, a speeka dricka pordy dorse, di gootill ladda a gostel gum, so forta motta issil num.  Amen.  But it's the thought that counts.

       Our son Samuel can say it correctly, and often prays it.  And so it lives on, thank God.
