Three Norwegians went to Decorah to attend a Sons of Norway convention. The hotel clerk charged them $30, or $10 apiece. After the bell boy showed the Norwegians to their room, the clerk discovered he had overcharged them for the use of one room. It should have been $25 all together. So he handed the bell boy $5 and told him to refund the money to the Norwegians. On the way, the bell boy figured it would be difficult to divide $5 three ways, so he gave each Norwegian $1 and pocketed the remaining $2 himself.
So, the question is, if each Norwegian got back $1, making their total outlay $9 each, and 3 times 9 is $27; and the bell boy kept $2, making a total of $29 . . . WHAT HAPPENED TO THE OTHER DOLLAR?
